Alex is a 4th year student at UBC studying economics, philosophy and Chinese. He is deeply curious about the way we determine value, and driven to advance dialogues on capital allocation through insights at the intersection of academic disciplines and cultures. Serving as president of the UBC Trading Group for two years, he cultivated a strong community of students united by their will to shape the future of capital markets. He currently serves as a fund manager at Vancouver Social Value Fund, working with peers to direct capital toward local social purpose organizations. Confident in the economics of social enterprise, he seeks to engage with ventures that demonstrate the symbiosis of purpose and profit as aligned incentives, and lead by example to create lasting change. As a student of Mandarin, he aspires to harness the power of globalization in the context of sustainable and local impact within communities globally.
